Our Rooms
Creating Diverse Learning Environments

Babies
The baby unit is situated upstairs. It is a bright and welcoming room which can be divided into different areas for different activities. The baby unit can accommodate twelve babies. The ratio of staff to babies is 1:3. The staff in the baby unit are both qualified and experienced and are able to encourage the babies through the early stages of their development.

The daily routine is adaptable to suit the individual needs of a young baby. Each baby is allocated a key person who is responsible for settling the baby into nursery and documenting their development. Craft and messy play are offered each day - sand, water play, playdoh etc.
The babies go out to play each day (weather permitting) either on the patio or in their own grassed area. There are a wide range of outside toys available.
On some days the babies go out for walks in double buggies around the surrounding area.
Toddlers
In our toddler room, there is a focus on supporting the children’s communication and language development through fun play and activities. There is a slightly more structured routine than in our under 2 room, which is flexible, allowing for individual needs to be met.
We begin to promote independence, by
supporting the children to make choices and share their interests with us.
There are many opportunities throughout the day for creative play, naturally developing motor skills, imagination and confidence. Outdoor learning is a priority, in our large garden and on our patio area. The garden is completely fenced and there are horses in the field adjacent. Children enjoy being creative in the mud kitchen, accessing resources to promote a natural curiosity and having the freedom of the outdoors.
On a Tuesday the children take part in Grow Active, which is a music and movement session which also encourages healthy eating. On a Friday children
enjoy Yoga sessions in the afternoon, run by our
Yoga trained member of staff. These classes are at
no additional cost.

Preschool
In our preschool room there is a more structured routine, with an emphasis on nurturing a growing independence. This is promoted through a range of opportunities tailored to individual needs. Learning happens naturally and the children build a sense of curiosity, imagination and independence.
Ongoing Observation, Planning and evaluation expands on the children’s prior learning and experiences, and their interests. Activities are largely child – led, with slips sent home on a Friday for parents and carers to tell us of any events or activities their children have enjoyed over the weekend.
The children enjoy meeting for daily group sessions with their familiar key worker.
Outdoor learning is encouraged, in the large fully fenced garden and on the patio area. Children enjoy being creative in the mud kitchen, accessing resources to promote a natural curiosity and having the freedom of the outdoors. There are also climbing frames, a pirate ship and a sandpit plus wide spaces for running games to develop their gross motor skills.
On a Tuesday the preschool children take part in Grow Active, which is a music and movement session which also encourages healthy eating. Thursday afternoons the preschool children can take part in our Spanish lessons. These are fun sessions based around games and music which the children enjoy. On Friday afternoons the children enjoy Yoga classes with our Yoga trained member of staff. These are very popular with the children and prove to be a great way of building strength, self-awareness and co-ordination.
With the next step being the move to school, there is a focus on self help skills and independence in readiness for this
.
